About the toolbar
While completing an assignment in assessmentQ, you may see a toolbar at the top of the player. Depending on how your assignment has been configured, this toolbar can contain the following supporting tools:

This documentation refers to supporting tools using their default names (Listen, Special characters, Highlighter and Calculator). Please note that your organisation may have chosen to use different names or labels.
Not all tools are available in every assignment — your organisation decides which tools are activated.
Listen
The Listen button allows you to have the on-screen text read aloud.
Click the Listen button to start listening.
Result: The text displayed on screen is read aloud. You can typically pause or stop playback, adjust the volume or the reading speed.
Notes:
To read specific parts of a page, highlight the text you want to hear with your mouse or finger, then click the small Listen pop-up icon that appears next to your selection.
Use headphones when you are in a room with other participants so you do not disturb them.
In addition to reading the text aloud, a screen reader toolbar may be available offering you extra options such as enlarging text, or applying a page mask to help with focus.

Special characters
This option opens a panel of special characters (e.g. accented letters or punctuation marks) that you can insert into your answer.
Click Special characters to open the character map.
Click the character you need to add it to your response.
Click Close to stop using the character map.
Highlighter
This option allows you to highlight words or sentences within the question to help you focus while reading. It can be useful if you have a large case study and want to highlight the most important information in the text.
Click the highlighter icon in the toolbar and select the text you want to highlight.
Click the button again to stop highlighting text.
Notes:
The text highlighting remains preserved even when you navigate away and return to your question.
For selected question types (e.g. multiple choice, fill gaps, and drag-and-drop questions), you can also highlight text directly within the answer area.
Calculator
This option opens an on-screen calculator: standard or scientific, depending on configuration.
A standard calculator: a simple calculator that allows you to add, subtract, multiply and divide rational numbers.
A scientific calculator: a more advanced calculator that allows you to perform complex calculations (such as trigonometric or logarithmic calculations).
To open the calculator, click Calculator in the toolbar.
To close the calculator, simply click the Calculator button again or click the x in the upper right corner of the calculator itself.
Notes:
The calculator may be available only for specific questions rather than the whole assignment, depending on the settings chosen by your organisation.
The calculator does not store your calculations. You cannot access the history within the calculator.
