Release notes assessmentQ 2026.04

This document provides a high-level overview of the changes coming in the 2026.04 release, which will be available from 1 September 2026.

We invite you to revisit these notes after the launch to discover all the details and get the most out of the latest improvements.

Introduction

This release introduces schedule retakes, enabling schedulers to easily reschedule exams for participants who failed, without having to manually rebuild participant lists.

The release also includes several usability improvements to the assessmentQ player, such as a scroll indicator for unseen content, further enhancing the overall user experience.

🔥Must see

The most important updates in this release — changes that impact how you work with assessmentQ.

Schedule retakes

As a scheduler, you no longer need to manually check who failed and build a new participant list every time a retake round is needed.

Starting from assessmentQ 2026.04, you can schedule retakes. A retake schedule is automatically pre-filled with only the failed participants and only the exam(s) they failed.

New in player: scroll indicator

Participants now see a subtle fade-out and a floating arrow when an item contains content below the visible area, clearly indicating that more content is available.
The arrow allows quick scrolling to the bottom, disappears once content is viewed, and is fully accessible (WCAG 2.1 compliant).

👀Need to know

Smaller improvements and tweaks that make every day work smoother.

Warning message for incomplete answered matrix items

If the “Warning for unanswered questions” option is enabled, participants will now also see a warning for partially completed multiple-choice matrix items.

Progress display for adaptive assignments with unequal paths

Starting from assessmentQ 2026.04, authors can choose to show the progress bar for adaptive assignments with unequal number of items in the paths.
The progress bar always shows the maximum number of items for the current path of the participant.

Increased minimal precision in Math with CAS

The decimal precision for CAS (Computer Algebra System) equivalence checks in Math items with CAS increased from 9 to 10 decimals, giving more accurate evaluation of numeric answers.

Support for EPS files

Authors can now use EPS files (i.e. vector files) in their item content. EPS files remain sharp when zooming in, improving readability, especially for detailed diagrams and participants with visual impairments.
