Background
Before you can publish a grading plan, every item that needs grading must have a grader. In the Grader allocation lane, you decide which graders grade which items. assessmentQ divides the answers equally between the graders of an item.
Only users with the Access to Grader tasks permission (for example via the predefined Grader role) can be selected as grader.
Procedure
Allocate graders
Open the grading plan and expand the Grader allocation lane. You can expand it once exams or sessions have been added.
Result: You see a tree with the exams, parts and items to grade. The legend above the tree shows the share of the workload per grader and the part that is not assigned yet.Do you want to grade the whole plan yourself? Click Assign all to me and confirm with Assign to me. Graders who were already assigned are replaced by you. Skipped items stay skipped.
The confirmation after clicking the circled Assign all to me button.
To assign other graders, click Select graders… on the level of an exam, a part or an item, and select one or more graders. The list groups the graders under You, Suggested and All graders. Use the search field to find a grader quickly.
Graders assigned to an exam or part are assigned to all items in it.
When you select several graders, the answers are distributed equally. The percentage next to each grader shows their share.
Items in a case or an on-the-fly folder are assigned as a whole.
The grader list. The circled part groups the graders under You, Suggested and All graders.
Items that are graded by gap
Fill gaps in text, Fill gaps on background and Math entry items are graded by gap: one grader reviews all distinct answers per gap at once. These items carry the Grade by gap icon.
Select exactly one grader for these items, or choose Skip grading for this item if no manual grading is needed. A skipped item is shown as Skipped in the allocation, so it is clear that this was a deliberate choice.
A grader you assign to the parent exam or part is not split over these items: they keep their own grader.
You can only skip an item while the plan is in draft.
Complete the plan automatically (optional)
Expand the Moderation lane and switch on Autocomplete grading plan. The plan then completes automatically once all sessions and grader tasks are finished. For a plan with a finish window, the finish window must also have ended. You can change this setting later, also when the plan is live.
The Moderation lane. The circled switch turns on Autocomplete grading plan.
Publish the plan
Optionally, set a Due date in the Grader allocation lane.
Click Publish.
Result: The Publish grading plan dialog opens. If some items have no grader yet, a message tells you to assign at least one grader to each item that needs grading. A plan without sessions cannot be published.Optionally, enter or change the due date and click Publish.
Result: The plan becomes Live and every grader gets one grader task with all answers assigned to them. The Publish grading plan dialog, with an optional due date.
Note: Once the plan is published, the grader allocation can no longer be changed. You can still replace a grader, adjust the due date and the autocomplete setting, and, for a plan with a finish window, adjust the finish window. The sessions of a fixed collection can no longer be changed. See Following up and completing a grading plan.
