Grading your grader tasks

Open your grader task, score the answers and finish the task.

Background

When a lead grader publishes a grading plan in which you are a grader, you receive a grader task with all answers assigned to you. You grade these answers in the Grading environment. You need the Access to Grader tasks permission (for example via the predefined Grader role).

Grading is blind: you never see the name of the participant, and the answers are shown in a random order.

Open your grader tasks

Click your user menu at the top right of assessmentQ and select Grader tasks.
Result: The Grading environment opens with an overview of your tasks. Every tile shows the grading plan, the status of the task (Not started or In progress) and the number of confirmed answers. Finished tasks are no longer shown.

In a grading plan with sessions that are still in progress, new answers are added to your task as soon as those sessions finish.

Result: The answer is marked as Confirmed.

  4. Optionally, add a comment:

    • Feedback: shown to the participant when they review their answers.

    • Internal notes: not visible to participants.

The circled Feedback tab, where you write feedback for the participant.

  5. Use the arrows at the top right to go to the next answer or question, and repeat until all answers are confirmed.

  6. Once you have confirmed all answers in the task, a dialog asks whether you want to finish the task. Click Finish task, or Continue grading if you want to review your scores first. You can also finish the task later with the Finish task button at the top right.

Note: You can change a confirmed score as long as the task is not finished: the answer then becomes Not confirmed again, so confirm it once more. Once you finish the task, all scores become final. This cannot be undone.

Tip: Fill gaps in text, Fill gaps on background and Math entry items are graded by gap, for all participants at once. See Grading fill gaps and math entry items by gap.

Recordings

  • In Interpreting items, the participant's recording is shown larger than the source, so you can follow it more easily.

  • In Recording and Interpreting items, click Download to download the recording of the selected attempt. For a recording with a source (simultaneous interpreting), you get a zip file with the recording and one file in which the source and the recording are merged. The button shows Preparing download… until the file is ready. For consecutive interpreting with several segments, you get a zip file with the separate segments.

  • Lead graders can always download recordings. Graders need the permission Download recordings in addition to Access to Grader tasks. A change to these permissions takes effect the next time the user signs in.

  • Important: the name of a downloaded file contains the name of the participant. For users who can download recordings, grading is therefore not anonymous.
